“Therefore everyone hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
The towers of my sandcastle stood tall. My fortress seemed steady. The outer wall kept all others from destroying my creation. But then the wind picked up. The tide kept pushing. My castle did not stand a chance. Sand is weak.
Jesus says foolish people build their lives on sand (Matthew 7:26), and wise people build their lives on solid rock (v. 24). Listening to Jesus and following His commands makes us strong.
When we read the Bible and live the way it tells us to, we are building a stable life. Obeying our parents, telling the truth, and loving those around us are a few of the things God commands.
Live like Jesus. That’s what we are called to do.
When the winds roar, you’ll be secure in Jesus’ strength. When like thousands of constant waves, life seems to be cruel and unkind, God will comfort You with His love, joy, and peace. Obey God. Be strong.
1. Write a story to the following prompt: What would Jesus be like if He lived in the 21st century? What types of movies would He watch? How would He have treated His parents? His siblings? What would have been His favorite subject?
2. 1 Corinthians 10:4 says that “… For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.” What other references for rocks and stones can you find in the Bible.
3. With permission, search for some rocks and use some paint to write qualities you think Jesus showed in His life. Some examples are courageous and kind. Paint the background and the designs however you want.
Your name is awesome. The things you have created are beautiful. The life you led on Earth was perfect. I want to live like you, Jesus. Please help me to do that today.
